In a response posted on hip-hop personality Miss Info’s website, Scratch puts his feelings about the Long Island duo out in the open. “As the world knows, EPMD decided to record a new album without DJ Scratch and they also toured all summer without him,” he told Info. “This desperate but tragic decision by EPMD totally disgusted loyal fans, radio, club and battle DJs around the world. Fans from around the world are outraged shouting.. ‘EPMD without DJ Scratch is like RUN-D.M.C. without Jam Master Jay.’”

The DJ/producer, known for manning the decks for Jay-Z and Diddy as well as crafting hits for Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J and DMX, pulled no punches. “EPMD’s 7th album We Mean Business hit the stores December 9th 2008,” Scratch said. “Their sales in the first week was a tragic 2,726 copies according to Soundscan. So now EPMD stands for Erick and Parrish Making Diddly Squat.”

“Rappers remember,” he continued. “DJ’s run this shit.

At midnight, it will be one year since Chad “Pimp C” Butler tragically died last year. The rapper and producer, one half of UGK, has been honored throughout the year since, notably Bun B’s “Angel In The Sky” [click to read], and through memorial shirts and lyrics.

Houston’s KPFT 90.1 FM radio will honor the Texas rap pioneer with a three hour radio show at midnight tonight, to bring in the one year anniversary with music, commentary and heartfelt praise of Pimp C. The show will also broadcast on 89.5 FM in Galveston.

Invited call-ins and guests include David Banner [click to read], DJ Paul [click to read], Greg Nice, Pimp’s mother “Mama Wes” and others. Bun B [click to read] will be in the studio to help orchestrate the event.

Matt Sonzala, the radio personality, webmaster and journalist said in a statement, “It’s one of the Hip Hop deaths that I am sickest about. How many of our leaders have to die? Think about those who have passed in our community, almost all of them were leaders. [DJ] Screw, Fat Pat, [Big] Hawk, Big Mello, Big Moe, all changed the game in some way, shape or form. They’re not the only ones. We can’t forget [Tupac Shakur], Biggie, Big L, hell, we can’t forget Scott La Rock, all leaders. Pimp C was a leader too. He was a man respected ’cause he built his own lane and stayed in it and dominated it. He and Bun B are the backbone of this southern rap movement. The mentors, the true Kings. I thank God that we still have Bun B in our presence [tonight.]” Sonzala closed in saying, “I am sure more Houston folk will join us to relay some stories.”

(sixshot credit) Superstar producer Swizz Beatz recently revealed that Eminem’s upcoming album Relapse will feature a sequel to the rapper’s 2000 hit ‘Stan”.

“Stan”, which was featured on Eminem’s second album The Marshall Mathers LP, told the story of a fan obsessed with the rapper who commits suicide.

Swizz divulged to MTV that “Stan Part 2″ is one of five songs he has produced on Eminem’s forthcoming album and described the song as “totally genius”. Swizz also revealed he crafted a song for the album which features Dr. Dre and 50 Cent.

“It’s different,” Swizz said of Eminem’s upcoming album. “Different sound, different mind frame. [Eminem's] clear. But it’s the [Em] that you missed, that you loved, that you need, especially right now in the industry, going into ’09. He’s coming back to take the cake.”

Relapse is expected to hit stores in early 2009.

Flint, Michigan rapper MC Breed has died at the age of 36.
An anonymous source, reportedly a friend of the late rapper confirmed the passing of the industry veteran to All Hip Hop. “He’s no longer with us,” the source said. “We are in the process of putting together a benefit concert, hopefully at Saint Andrews to raise money for a funeral.”
He was hospitalized September 6 after suffering from a sudden kidney failure.

Born Eric Breed, he had been in the music industry for 15 years.
Notable collaborations include the late 2Pac (“Gotta Get Mine), and Too Short. Breed’s biggest single was “Ain’t No Future in Yo Frontin,” which reached number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Anyone can be labeled the “future of Hip Hop”… because just like in any genre of music, its sounds and artists change with the time. Plies is a great artist, performer, all that, and he’s definetly making his imprint in rap music’s history, and that’s all that needs to be worried about. Two years ago we weren’t doing any shows, hardly any fanbase, and now we’re selling nationally in online orders and iTunes… does that make us the “future of Hip Hop”? Naw, we just doing good, and will strive to do more and more

I disagree, why would he be the future oh hip hop? He has his own image and his own style which is pretty good, but he isn’t that unique. I ain’t hatin on him at all I like some of his songs, but he needs to step up his game a lot! He said he wouldn’t go commercial but every song he has on the radio is about something a million people already rapped about.. I think he has the potential but its up to if he tries or not. Lil Wayne went platinum in less then a week didn’t he? Has Plies even sold that after all these months?

Not one to hate, I congratulate Plies because he is a lot more intelligent then what the cooperate machine depicts him as. I do think however that this question can be interpreted as a metaphor on many different levels, it’s just all in how you view it. Plies represents the face of unwarranted expression. Do I think that’s the future? Yes. Do I think he’s the world’s most prolific rhymer? No. Hip Hop comes in all shapes, sizes, and in this instance “faces”. What Plies brings to the table is simply one variation of a whole conglomerate. He represents a portion of America that exercises their right to opinion so like it or not, his offerings will be sealed, signed, and delivered to the masses; by choice or force.

of it. I honestly don’t think you can pin point one artist as the future
of hip hop. The future of hip hop is always going to be a collective
movement of artist that define all the different aspects of hip hop.

Trick Trick is not a happy camper. As previously reported on XXLMag.com, Trick denied rumors that he was protecting Eminem in a news story.

XXLMag’s own Ron Mexico later revisited the news piece in his Negro Please blog. Needless to say, Trick wasn’t too pleased with Mexico’s opinion. The Detroit rapper recently gave the blogger a piece of his mind during an interview with DJ Booth. Trick first shared that he’s growing tired of being portrayed as the villain, which also happens to be the name of his forthcoming album.

“I had to push my album back because of this sh*t that happened with Yung Berg,” Trick revealed. “‘Cause I didn’t want people to think I was tryin’ to come up off of some negative publicity, and I was tryin’ to be known for fightin’ and beatin’ motherf*ckers up and sh*t like that.”

Then, when asked who plays the role of villain best, Trick had some choice words for Mexico.

“The people who really piss me off the most are bloggers who disrespect artists and talk sh*t,” Trick told DJ Booth. “They hide behind that laptop or hide behind that keyboard, say whatever the f*ck they want to say, but they walk out the house and put their hood on and tuck their tail between their legs, because they’re scared of the motherf*cker standin’ next to them in the grocery line.”

“A bunch of f*ckin’ p*ssy-ass n*ggas,” Trick continued. “[They say] I’m extortin’ Eminem. I grew up with that man! Get the f*ck out of here! That’s one of my best friends – the f*ck you mean I’m extortin’ him?
